She worked for Dr Cruzy, who was a propellent chemist, for Jesse Smith, and for Mike Difatta. Mike Diffata was in the Programs area and supported the MAC 36 program. In 1995 the division she worked in was closed and she was let go. Patricia worked for PPC doing contract analysis for NASA Goddard. She was the Publications Coordinator and collected cost analysis for instruments launched into space. Currently she works on the C-RAM program (Counter - Rocket, Artillery, Mortar) for Lockheed Martin. Patricia prepares the paperwork to enable people to deploy as installers. He received a BS from the University of Tennessee in Agricultural Engineering. He worked for Ford Motor Company and the US Army before moving to Huntsville. He started working for Thiokol in 1959 as a Program Manager. He retired in 1995 when the Huntsville division closed down. Bill shared his knowledge of Thiokol. He spoke about the companies start in 1926, making sealants for gas tanks for the US military's aircraft in WWII, and working in Rocket Propulsion. He spoke about Thiokol starting work in rocketry in 1947 and working with solid propulsion rockets in 1949. Bill shared information about the TX-58, X-17, TX-33, XM-20 and TX 77. He shared information about the Hermes Motor, Falcon air-to-air missile, Minuteman motor development, Scout Vehicles, Little Joe, Caster 1, 2, and 4, and rocket motor configurations. He summarized by saying that over 2300 motors were produced for launch vehicles in Huntsville and that those motors assisted in the launching of satellites used for communication, weather, and geo-positioning. He came to Huntsville in 1963 via a CO-OP program. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1966 with a degree in Engineering. His first job was with LTV working on the US Army's Lance Missile. He then took a job with Rocketdyne which was working on the F-1 engine for Apollo. In 1974, he started at Thiokol working on Solid Rocket Boosters. He worked on a variety of programs including projects for the US Air Force, GPS Satellites, the private industry Conestoga rocket, the MAXUS microgravity rocket, the US Army's Maverick and Hellfire Missiles, and he was Project Engineer on the AIM-9L Sidewinder missile. The SRBs he worked on flew on various Delta and Atlas rocket flights. Title A name given to the resource Herb Burton Description An account of the resource Herb Burton was born in Amarillo, TX, but grew up in Gadsden, AL. He gained an appointment to the US Naval Academy in 1964. He graduated with a degree in Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1969. He spent a decade farming before joining Thiokol in 1982. He worked in Planning and Development. He was a liason working on issues with the START and INF treaties that included Soviet inspections of Thiokol's facilities. In 1989 he became the Plant Engineer. He was involved with the shutdown of Thiokol in the early 90s. He has worked at a variety of enginnering jobs since leaving Thiokol. He explains his early work in the Plant Engineering department, extolls the company's safety culture, discusses coworkers, post-Thiokol employment, and covers his retirement activities. Title A name given to the resource Ron Clements Description An account of the resource Ron Clements was born in 1939 in Reform, Alabama. He earned his BS in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Alabama and his MS in AE from the University of Illinois. He started working at Thiokol in June, 1963 in the Stress Group - Propellants. He worked on the Spartan missile program. He went on to become a project engineer on the Castor motor program. This also involved working with the Japanese to provide the Castor rocket for their N1 & N2 rockets. He then worked on the Navy Mark 70 missile and became the program manager for the Mark 70. Thiokol Huntsville was notified that HQ would be closing out operations in Huntsville by December, 1996. Raised in Pensacola, he went to Auburn until he joined the Army at age 18. He trained with a B-26 oufit, and discusses his experience through the war. After the war, he got a degree at the University of Alabama for Mechanical Engineering in 1948. He also worked in oil processing, at a paper mill, then moved on to work at Boeing for several decades. He participated in various space-related projects, particularly discussing his time as chief engineer of the Lunar Rover project, and further employment. Gene then discusses his childrens' lives, as well as his grandchildren.
