    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Brand Griffin was born in Medford, Oregon. His father was in the military,  so they moved around a lot. Brand went to the University of Texas his first year of college, and he studied Architecture. Then, he graduated college with a degree in Architecture from Washington State University. He then went to graduate school in Southern California, and he received a fine arts degree. After this, Brand wanted to get a degree in something a little more stable, so he went back to school to get his master&#039;s degree in Architecture. After this, Brand was on a shuttleship for a couple of years in Rome, and then he came back to start his career in teaching Architecture. Even though he was teaching Architecture, he had an intense passion for space. Because of this passion, he started to become involved with the Johnson Space Center with a faculty fellowship. Brand was in their Spacecraft Design Division. Since he wanted to be closer to be a part of the Space Industry, he decided to move to Washington State. After a while of working in Washington State, he received a job offer from Boeing in Hunstville, AL and began his career there being involved with the space station. ]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Brooks was raised in Heiberger, AL. After high school, he would join the Navy, then attend school at Auburn, recieving an electrical engineering BS, then earning a master&#039;s in the same from Georgia Tech. Following school, he went to work at the Naval Research Station in Panama City. Brooks would then begin work in Huntsville in 1953, beginning with development inspection, then shortly joining guidance and control and working on the Redstone program (especially control simulations). He continued to work on Jupiter (where he took on more guidance-specific work), as well as on the Explorer program. In 1960, he would become a charter member of the MSFC, as the director of the Guidance and Control division. He would maintain this role in the early stages of the Saturn project, but would move on to become the Astrionics laboratory director (from around 1968). Brooks then goes on to discuss some of the challenges he faced in this role while developing Skylab maneuvering/control systems, as well as the decision to deorbit the station. He also discusses contributions to the Space Shuttle, and supporting various experiments. Brooks retired in November of 1981, but remained involved with the space program. After brief involvement in military work with Teledyne-Brown, he would begin work at Control Dynamics in 1984, which he was still involved with at the time of the interview. Brooks reflects positively on his career &amp; experience with many different groups as a result of his work, and discusses his time with the Marshall Retiree&#039;s Association.]]></dcterms:description>
